The runner behind Margarita’s Miles
Hi, I’m Juan.
I’m Margarita’s brother. I’m also a husband, a dad to five daughters, and a runner who believes a mile can carry more than one person.
Support the $50,000 goalWhy I run
The miles mean more now.
In 2025, I ran the Boston Marathon and, with the help of an extraordinary community, raised $30,000 for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. I was proud of what we accomplished.
Then ovarian cancer took my sister Margarita in 2026. She was a mother, a professor, a lawyer, and someone I loved deeply. I can’t change what happened to her. I can keep saying her name and keep showing up for families facing this disease.
In 2027, I’m returning to Boston with Team Teal and a $50,000 goal. Each training run is a chance to remember Margarita, talk about ovarian cancer, and invite someone else into this effort.
My five daughters are part of my reason to keep going. I want them to see what it looks like when grief becomes action—and when a family and a community carry someone forward together. As their father, I also want this campaign to make conversations about ovarian cancer and women’s health harder to ignore.
